After deactivating the plugins that I upgraded it seems that Banner Management for woocommerce ver 2.5.3 was the culprit. I’ve created a bug ticket with them. It’s not a “heavy” plugin so I was quite surprised..

Unfortunately, the CLS issue is very noticeable and impacts the user experience significantly. I’ve tested it across multiple devices—Mac, Windows, Android, and tablets—and the layout shift is jarring. This is happening at a critical moment in the user journey, just before checkout, and it doesn’t inspire trust.

Here are my PageSpeed Insights scores for the cart page using the new Cart Block:

• Mobile: CLS 0.996, Performance 31%
• Desktop: CLS 0.571, Performance 23%

These are the worst metrics across my entire site. I’m using the default Storefront theme, so I would expect compatibility with WooCommerce blocks to be optimal. Also, there’s no caching enabled on the live site, so it’s not a cache-related issue.

I’m aware the classic [woocommerce_cart] shortcode has limitations—it doesn’t integrate cleanly with my PW Gift Cards plugin, and the styling is outdated. But performance is vastly better, with CLS nearly zero and scores in the 90s (especially on desktop).

Given that this is the official cart replacement, it’s concerning that performance is this poor out of the box. I’d really like to continue using the new Cart Block, but only if we can identify the cause of the CLS and performance drop.

no. can’t be. You’ve gone from, a small subtle stand alone “clear” and suddenly decided it’s a button. Now it’s my theme’s problem? Buttons, by their nature are prominent and stand out. I mean apply a bit of reason, do you really want the “clear your options” and the “add to cart” to be next to each other and to look identical. Clearly “add to cart” should be given priority / prominance.

So, bad idea allround.

And now, you make an “update change” to woocommerce, which completely messes up my site, and I need to hire a developer to make right. Come on, unacceptable

Updated everything and the problem remains.

1. The feed did not “execute” automatically
2. I tried to manually refresh. It stays on 0% for about 15 seconds, then terminates and no new products are added..?

It has been confirmed that this is a woocommerce bug, so we hope it’s fixed soon.

I’ve done more troubleshooting…

The issue seems to be that I cannot assign some attributes to a product. As an example, I cannot add the size M to a product as an attribute. M is simply not in the list of sizes in the product add. If I type in M in the add attribute I do get a list of attributes. (It seems around 50 are shown. The last 30 attributes with M in them are simply not shown, and M is in the bottom half, so cannot be selected)

I’ve reverted my theme to Storefront default, I’ve deactivated everything except for woocommerce (and wordfence)…

I can try rollbacking to earlier versions of woocommerce, but which do I choose…
