Thank you Mattyrob! I did have that checked already, to the Subscribe Page. But the form shows up in two places: in the Widget on my Journal Page (currently disabled) and on the Subscribe Page. It doesn’t take the subscriber to the Subscribe page to subscribe but lets them do it from the Widget. Is that confusing the plugin?
Would the widget be the place to have a message that the subscription is confirmed by adding a message to the Post-content? I am not sure what the Pre-content and Post-content are for. When I am not using the Widget everything works seamlessly.

In reply to: [Subscribe2 - Form, Email Subscribers & Newsletters] Public subscribers only?Thank you so much! I have that disabled already, just didn’t know if Subscribe2 had its own override for that setting. Will Akismet handle the spam I will get from public subscribers? I saw in this forum you recommended a plugin called Bad Behavior; I’m trying to keep my plugins streamlined and at a minimum. Guess I’ll install and see what happens, and if I need it, I’ll install it, or do you recommend another plugin now?
Appreciate the speedy response!

I have found that I don’t need to create a new gallery, but only deleted the old images and add the new ones. They will have a different ID but the gallery will just call the new ones anyway. Somewhere in the upgrade I lost the ability to call a particular image for the preview image; now it will only call the first one in the sort order.
CariHello,
Even if I try to overwrite my exisitng NextGen gallery images with new ones with identical names, via FTP, the old images still show up. Yes, I have restarted the browswer to clear the cache and it is still happening. Somewhere NextGen is storing the old images and still calling them, even with new ones uploaded, which don’t show up at all. Would like to know how to purge those old ones from the database. The only thing that allows me to save my galleries is deleting old images then uploading same images with different names. They have a new ID number, and the old ones are still in there somewhere weighing down my database.
Any insights?
Thanks,
CariThis ALMOST worked when I DID use “gallery” instead of “album” but the WordPress gallery code fouled it up. Matt, it doesn’t seem like this will work. It just takes me to the other page which I have listed privately but it is not seamless at all. Seemed like it might could work but any way I code it it just either shows me the whole other page or even the WP Edit Page page! I was using some old advice of yours I found on the Sivel.net page in the comments, but I think it was for an old version of WP. I wonder if there is something in the Dashboard settings that needs to be changed.

Hello again, Matt. I’ve been tinkering with this code for the last hour and still can’t get it to work. Tried every variation I can think of, including substituting “album” for “gallery”, based on this info on the Sivel.net Usage page:
If rel=”shadowbox[album]” is included the portion listed here as [album] will group multiple pictures into an album called album. Do not use [gallery] to define an album as WordPress has a shortcode that will interfere.I have not tried adding the rel=”shadowbox”[album] onto the images and not adding it, since you say it is added on the fly, so it seems redundant to add it again, but otherwise how does Shadowbox know it’s an album? I have left the page I am trying to add the extra album to live with the bum link so you can see the code: http://cariferraro.com/gallery/spelling-words/
I feel so close to an answer but am not quite getting it.
Thanks,
CariThanks, Matt, this sounds good. I am not sure where to put the [gallery id=123] HTML in the WordPress Edit Page window. I can’t put it on a photo that’s linked to the private page, right, because then that photo would show up in the slide show? So it should be added to a text link? Sorry if I’m being dense. I had thought of making private pages with the separate galleries, just not sure how Shadowbox will “work seamlessly” to show the images on those pages without having the viewer have to click on a link.
Thanks, I appreciate your speedy response.

Ok, so I took the nobox instruction and put it back on the anchor tag, which then leads away from the page to the image on a blank page. It is just not working by adding rel=”nobox” to the anchor tag. Is there something else I should be putting in. I understand why if I don’t put a shadowbox attribute on an image it automatically is assigned as Shadowbox is sitewide. Just, how can I hide this thumbnail?

Thanks,
CariThanks, Matt, that’s exactly where I’ve been putting it. In this case the anchor tag is an image, so I’ve added at the end of the tag that begins: a href, but that either doesn’t work on uploading the image directly into the post, or leads the page to a blank page with only the image on it. If I add it to the tag that begins img src then the thumbnail is back in the gallery again with the big pictures. I am running Thesis theme. The page is here:
http://cariferraro.com/gallery/the-first-writing-limited-edition/
When I look at the page source the extra wording rel=”shadowbox[post-144];player=img;” appears, which I did not add. HOw is that getting added automatically? The rel=”nobox” does appear below surrounded by red so I know it’s wrong, but it just won’t let me do it the other way. My big images are hidden and that is all working fine.
Would you mind taking a look?
Thanks,
CariMatt, I am having the same question which I posted today here:
but the question is WHERE in the tag should the rel=”nobox” go exactly? I’ve tried many variations!

In reply to: Gallery thumbnails link to actual content pages? Thanks . . . but I would only want the plug-in to work on my sub-index pages. The main art pages will be Pages in their own right and I would only need one thumbnail to link through to the main page. The best example I have of the functionality I am trying to reproduce in WP is on my other website written years ago in GoLive; here is a link that shows what I am trying to do:
http://proseandletters.com/Cards/index.htmlDo you know of any simple plugins to recommend for this? That I could make work just on the main entry pages to the different areas on my site?

In reply to: Gallery thumbnails link to actual content pages? Thanks, Esmi. I followed your tutorial for getting it to work and was so thrilled to discover this option, but unless it has the functionality of clicking through, it’s no good to me. I’m thinking I could just try uploading my own thumbnails onto the page, styling them how I need and then manually adding a link to each. Once I get to each main art page I want to use Shadowbox to showcase the art. So I am trying to minimize using too many other plugins. Thanks for the quick reply.
