Hey @minki-pool
I actually just figured this out, it’s a strange settings issue.
Along with restricting access to wp-login.php and setting a custom login page. You also have to check off under Proactive security rules “Disable automatic redirecting to the login page when /wp-admin/ is requested by an unauthorized request”
It seems redundant, because if you want to blog wp-login, you sure as shit want to block wp-admin and instead use the custom URL. Without this, intruders accessing wp-admin are simply redirected to your secret (or so you thought) login URL.
I am also experiencing this with one of my WordPress instances. wp-login.php returns a 404, but if I access wp-admin it redirects to my custom login page. My IP is not in the access/whitelist.
I have no such setting in the Import and Export Settings section. In my case, the dashboard reports as “clean” but the reason I logged in to check, was that I received the email notice.
I have a fresh alert from a different WP install this morning. It lists the referenced two files, as well as apparently “old” WordPress files that had been previously ignore like wp-rss.php, wp-feed.php etc.
The dashboard reports as clean, and I also don’t have that setting on this WP instance either.
My issues is that they are already on the “ignore” or “false/positive” list and have been for quite some time. The most recent plugin update caused many of my WP sites to start sending these notifications.
Same here – and in my case they do already appear in the “False/Positives” list.
I have about 12 files in that list, but only get notifications for .htaccess and wp-config.php.
Running ver: 1.8.7

https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/jp_sitemap_master/That worked! I got the new post email, and the log shows 199 messages being sent. Thank you so much for debugging this with me. My guess is that somewhere along the line 2 subscribers chose the “featured” category.
Thanks again.
See screenshot – I believe they’re Registered Subscribers
.In the drop down, there are two (a clue!) subscribers for each category, then 199 for the “main” category. Each new post is assigned to this “main” category so I’m uncertain why it’s not sending.
With each new post, 2 categories are selected, Featured and News from The Neck. Featured only has two subscribers, but News from The Neck has 199 – any idea why it’s not going to those subscribed to this second category? Also how best remedy this? Make all subscribers subscribe to the first “Featured” category?
0 public subscribers and 199 registered. No excluded categories.
Updated all my plugins, and the WP Core and attempted another post publication. Same behavior, two emails go out to the same two people then full stop. Hosting techs said everything looks good on their end – they recommenced I contact you guys. Can I give you admin access?
Installed WP SMTP plugin, configured, tested successfully. Published a new post and the same two subscribers got the email, but that’s it. Any ideas?
Chatted with HG support – they said the emails were not blocked but recommended using SMTP to send them.
One thing I noticed was the email “stopped” on a “.host” extension – could that be tripping up the plugin?
Installed the logging plugin and republished a post. The log shows two emails being sent, but that’s it (should be well over 100).
What does this mean? Is my hosting company (HostGator) cutting these off or something else?
I did end up receiving the “test” email but the email triggered by the new post did not send/never showed up. Considering this plugin was functioning correctly previously, I’m not sure what troubleshooting is warranted.
Number of recipients is 1, the categories are correct, templates are populated …
I’ll try this plugin next: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/email-log/
FYI I’m also at WPEngine and was seeing this same behavior. Maybe it’s isolated to their platform?
How did you “re-install” did you simply perform a core update?
