    Hallo @sylencer,

    Hi @anna88sabu,

First of all, please excuse my late reply.

Technically, it is possible to block Cloudflare CDN for JavaScript and similar libraries with Real Cookie Banner. However, it is necessary to consider the consequences of this action.

We must point out that the following statements do not constitute legal advice. Therefore, I can only give you evaluations from our intensive experience with the EU legal regulations in practice and a technical assessment of the situation.

cdnjs.cloudflare.com (I expect you mean that one) is typically a so-called CDN (Content Delivery Network). This stores files on a large number of servers worldwide in order to be able to deliver them to the website visitor from the geographically closest server as quickly as possible. In almost all cases, not all servers are located in the EU or in secure third countries within the meaning of EU data protection law. The transfer of the website visitor’s IP address as personal data to the CDN’s servers and especially the potential transfer to unsafe third countries can usually only take place after your website visitors have given their consent. In general, a CDN is not a technically essential part of the web hosting, so that a legitimate interest does not come into question. Compare, among others, the decision of the VG Wiesbaden of 01.12.2021, Ref. 6 L 738/21.WI, the judgment of the OLG Cologne of 09.10.2020, Ref. 6 U 32/20 or the judgment of the LG München I of 20.01.2022, Ref. 3 O 17493/20. For you as a website operator, this means that we have the legal opinion that the CDN may only be used after consent has been given. However, refusing the CDN will result in parts of your website not working, as necessary scripts will not be able to load. Therefore, if you deliberately use the CDN, you should avoid it. If the CDN is surprisingly used on your website, it is probably because your theme or one of your WordPress plugins uses it. You would have to host their scripts locally, which is only offered as an option by a few themes or plugins. As of today, we don’t know of any practical solution to this problem other than asking the theme/plugin manufacturer to host them locally. Consequently, there is no service template for the CDN you might be useful.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to let us know!

    Best regards,

    Jan

The development and maintenance of such a plugin takes many hundreds of hours of work. We give you a part of our service for free with the free version, whereas other features to fund the effort are only available for a fee. We write out transparently in the product description what is included in the free version and what is not.

I think it’s a bit unfortunate that the wording of your feedback is not very constructive and appreciative.

You write, not having read the product description. What specifically could we improve in the product description so that you would read it before installation?

    Hi @dawidt,

I’m sorry to hear you’re not happy with Real Category Management’s product description.

Right at the beginning of the product description, after the two introductory paragraphs, we explicitly state what types of content the free version is limited to:

In the free version, the folder tree is only available for posts

All features listed below are available for this standard post type in the free version.

Did you perhaps overlook this explanation?

    Hi @znac,

    thanks for your request.

In the PRO version we offer a service template, in which all technical and legal details for a typical integration of OpenStreetMap via various plugins is already preconfigured for you.

Unfortunately, I don’t know your specific website and therefore can’t take a look at it, since you opened a public support ticket on ww.wp.xz.cn without specifying your website. Generally you have to block the <div> in which the map is rendered and the <script> element which triggers the rendering of the map.

If you want to send us your specific website to look at the specific problem, you can also open a support ticket at devowl.io/support.

    Hi @bsoftde,

I am sorry to read that you are not happy with Real Cookie Banner.

Privacy is an important concern for us, which is why we take it first. This means that we inform you transparently about the data processing that takes place. As you can read in our privacy statement, which you have to confirm to have read, we only transfer minimal data like the WordPress version or PHP version, for example to not deliver incompatible updates to you. Most WordPress plugin providers do the same, but unlike us, they don’t inform you (which is legally questionable).

All other data transfers will only take place with your explicit and voluntary consent.

Furthermore, immediately after installation you can use the plugin by clicking “Continue without any support and without e.g. discount announcements” completely without connecting to our servers. In this case, we will not be able to provide you with content from the Service Cloud, for example. But we also offer this option, so you don’t even have to allow the technically necessary data transfers.

You can also disable the announcements, such as important security notices or discount announcements, at any time under Cookie > License in your WordPress.

I therefore ask you to reconsider your rating, whether one star is really justified.

For further questions, I am at your disposal!

    Best regards,

    Jan

Works like charm. Thanks for your help!

This information would also be a good enhancement for your knowledge base article to configure this integration for production environments.

Thanks for your reply. I have to disagree, there are just the permissions AmazonSESFullAccess and AmazonSESReadOnlyAccess. These are predefined permissions policies (a group of permissions).

    Hallo @kainer,

    Hi @exoryhd,

Typically, the problem you describe has nothing to do with Litespeed, from which we automatically exclude the JS files for optimization. Instead, you can find several reasons why you might be experiencing the problem with possible solutions at https://devowl.io/knowledge-base/cookie-banner-displayed-every-subpage/.

If you want us to look at the problem for your specific website, you can also open a private support ticket at https://devowl.io/support and give us more details like the address of your website.

    Hi @larrylayouter,

Thanks for your further feedback. In principle, this is a good idea, but not without problems. A script would automatically adjust a legally relevant assessment in your cookie banner. There are services that behave differently depending on whether they run on a domain or subdomain. These set the scope of the cookie narrower or wider, which cannot be automatically estimated when moving the website to another domain or subdomain. Thus, a legal assessment of the situation by a human is necessary here. Therefore, we do not automatically make such legally relevant changes for you.

For more information on why certain cookie-related data cannot be collected automatically, we have explained this in detail in our knowledge base at https://devowl.io/knowledge-base/real-cookie-banner-cookie-scanner-finds-cookies-automatically/.

    Hi @larrylayouter,

Thank you for your request. In it, you ask questions on two different topics, which I would like to address:

We must point out that the following statements do not constitute legal advice. Therefore, I can only give you evaluations from our intensive experience with the EU legal regulations in practice and a technical assessment of the situation.

    1. Deleting database entries: Automatically deleting all Real Cookie Banner settings and tables when deleting the plugin would not be good, because if you temporarily deactivate or delete the plugin you would have to do again the several hours of work you would have put into setting up your cookie banner. An optional option to delete the settings and tables of Real Cookie Banner would be useful though and is already on our roadmap. We will inform you here as soon as the feature is implemented!
    2. Revocation of consent: The behavior you describe is correct. If your website visitor wants to revoke his consent, he does not want to give another consent, but he clearly only wants to revoke. Therefore, displaying the cookie banner again would be harassing the user, which would affect the voluntariness and thus the effectiveness of the consent according to the GDPR. If your website visitor does not want to revoke his consent, but change it, he can click on “Change privacy settings” from the legal links provided by Real Cookie Banner.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to let us know!

    Best regards,

    Jan
