In reply to: [EasyRotator for WordPress - Slider Plugin] Cant add rotators in the siteHi,
Thanks for using EasyRotator for WordPress, and I’m sorry you’re experiencing trouble. Can you please open a support ticket at http://www.dwuser.com/ and include temporary WordPress login credentials so we can check this? Most likely it’s a configuration issue on your computer that’s easily resolved.
Sincerely,
Drew O’NeillHi Stefanus,
You mentioned in your first post that you’d like to add the
titleattribute for SEO purposes. If you’re concerned about SEO, you should simply set text in the Title field in the editor; any title text you specify will be used to set thealtattribute.I think you would find this article helpful and instructive; it differentiates between the
altandtitleattributes: http://www.456bereastreet.com/archive/200412/the_alt_and_title_attributes/If you’re sure (after reading the above article) that you want to add
titleattributes to your images, you’ll need to manually add a code post-processor that modifies the<img>tags to implement thetitleattributes as desired. This would require more advanced coding skills. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Sincerely,
Drew O’NeillHi Taylor,
1 – If you make this modification, you will need to update that one line of code after any subsequent updates.
2 – You could also strip HTML by using:
$description = strip_tags(wp_trim_words($post->post_content, 50));Sincerely,
Drew O’NeillHi,
Thanks for using EasyRotator for WordPress! Here’s a post with instructions describing how to use the post content instead: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/description-field-using-content-instead-of-excerpt
You may want to use the
wp_trim_wordsfunction to automatically generate an excerpt when the description exceeds a certain length. For example, the updated line might be:$description = wp_trim_words($post->post_content, 50);Please let me know if you have any other questions.

In reply to: [EasyRotator for WordPress - Slider Plugin] Have to install a local app?Hi,
Thanks for your interest in EasyRotator, and I’m sorry it didn’t meet your needs.
The external editor application allows for more efficient and powerful editing features; for example, images can be resized and optimized before being uploaded to the web. This saves uploading time and allows for quicker development. Obviously, not every plugin is perfect for every use case. EasyRotator for WordPress is well maintained and offers extensive functionality. Many other plugins are more limited and/or don’t receive regular maintenance. While the up-front setup usually takes a minute or two (definitely not as long as you experienced), we believe that the long-term benefits outweigh the initial investment.
Again, I’m sorry that EasyRotator didn’t meet your needs. Please let me know if I may provide any additional assistance.

You are correct that OS X and Windows are the two currently-supported platforms for creating and editing rotators. The rotators created with the plugin can be viewed on any platform and device.

In reply to: [EasyRotator for WordPress - Slider Plugin] [raw] code around sliderHi,
Thanks for using EasyRotator for WordPress and sorry for any inconvenience! This is usually due to conflicts with different versions of the Shortcode Ultimate plugin. Please try the following simple fix:
1. Select Plugins > Editor on the left menu in the dashboard
2. On the upper-right, note the “Select plugin to edit” menu. Select “EasyRotator for WordPress” from the list and click Select.
3. On the list of files on the right, click “easyrotator-for-wordpress/compatibility.php”
4. In the main editor area, scroll down to the bottom of the code
5. You’ll see the code you should comment out by adding//

In reply to: [EasyRotator for WordPress - Slider Plugin] alt attribute on thumbnails?Hi,
Thanks for using EasyRotator for WordPress. The alt attributes are specifically designed to provide alternate content for the purpose of accessibility. If you have specified titles, then alternate text has already been associated with the main photos for the benefit of such populations. Thus, also providing alternate text for thumbnail images is somewhat redundant; that’s why it’s not possible to do this directly within the editor application.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

In reply to: [EasyRotator for WordPress - Slider Plugin] Error: Unable to display rotator.Hi @loudog,
Thanks for using EasyRotator for WordPress, and I’m sorry you’re experiencing trouble. This sounds like most likely a permissions error. Check to make sure that the uploaded content folder is accessible if you attempt to load it directly in your browser (e.g.
http://domain.com/wp-content/uploads/EasyRotatorStorage/user-content/erc_24_1386370848/content/content.html). If you continue to experience trouble, please open a support ticket at http://www.dwuser.com/#bottomBoxes and include temporary WordPress dashboard access credentials.Sincerely,
Drew O’NeillHi,
Thanks for your interest in EasyRotator, and I’m sorry it didn’t meet your needs. As mentioned under “Requirements” on the plugin page:
Wizard application requires Adobe AIR (auto-installer included)
The installation dialog that appears at the top of the dashboard guides the admin/client through the editor application auto-installer (which installs the Adobe AIR runtime if needed). These docs cover how that works: http://www.dwuser.com/support/easyrotator/wordpress/ .
This external application allows for more efficient and powerful editing features; for example, images can be resized and optimized before being uploaded to the web.
Obviously, not every plugin is perfect for every use case. EasyRotator for WordPress is well maintained and offers extensive functionality. Other plugins are more limited and/or don’t receive regular maintenance. If the installation of an external editor application doesn’t meet your use case requirements, then I recommend you choose one of the other many options. As a general tip, I do recommend that you review the “Requirements” section before installing a plugin; this should help you avoid wasted time.
Again, I’m sorry that EasyRotator didn’t meet your needs. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if I may provide any additional assistance.
Sincerely,
Drew O’NeillHi Lee,
I checked the source code at http://lionstelecom.lionstelecomserv.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/EasyRotatorStorage/user-content/erc_94_1369151889/content/content.html but still don’t see the dimensions on the thumb images. Are you still working on this same rotator, or did the page maybe not get updated properly?
(Please note that the rotator cannot be viewed directly through this page, but I’m looking at the source code, which is used by the plugin to display the rotator in your actual page.)
Sincerely,
Drew O’Neill
