  • I’m also getting hundreds of unwanted emails from these forums. I went to my profile/support ,in fact everywhere I could find, and saw no subscriptions. Still I keep getting unwanted emails from this site.

    Can you fix this?

In fact after posting this I just got a notice from the “Postman SMTP Mailer” plugin thread. It says “go there to unsubscribe” I followed the link and I was NOT subscribed to that forum. Well actually I am apparently, however, from the users’ POV (mine) I appear not to be subscribed. Thus there is no valid “Unsubscribe” option available for me to click on. There’s only a “subscribe” option.

I’ve tried resubscribing and then unsubscribing but no luck.

Me too. I subscribed to Postman but now I get emails on everything related to this. I supposedly unsubscribed but the emails keep coming.

Hi & Thanks for your reply. I am a bit confused by the “current lite version” or any other versions of Gallery Factory? I did purchase a copy of this plugin and must say that it promises to be the best one I’ve ever seen for handling many images. If there is a fuller version of Gallery Factory available, I’ll pay $100 if it’ll do everything I need. WordPress is a great platform but is weird in that it has such poor picture handling capability. All of the other plugins are also ineffective in that “directory creation” is not supported or they have other flaws.

My main problem is in getting a list of the pictures so I can select the right one. My website has lots of similar looking pictures so I can only tell them apart by filename. Thus thumbnails, captions, or descriptions won’t do it. I must have “sort & select by “filename””.

Renaming them isn’t a big deal, I’ll just be very careful when I create & name them in the 1st place. Thus don’t worry about this.

However some thing to allow me to select the images by filename is critical. I mean what’s the point in creating all these image galleries when you can’t pick which image you want to place in a webpage?

I have a similar problem. I have many images and I need to sort them and upload an exact one to an exact spot on a webpage. My pages are all old html and I can do this with an FTP program. Why WP is lacking picture management is beyond me.

Actually I’ve bought this plugin and am trying to get it to work. Well it works but I still haven’t figured out how to sort pix by filename using it. I put a support request in to the plugin author tho.

It seems that other people would want to organize lots of photos on WP sites. All the examples show how you can organize 5 very different pictures of say; sneakers, a basketball, a car, & a young woman in a bikini. Then it’s easy to sort them by image clip or low res snapshot. How about when you have 100’s of similar looking objects (say 1920 dimes) and you really need to sort the pix by file name?

I can’t believe I’m the only one with this problem.

I must say that the Gallery Factory does a great job of letting one sort pix into folders & Albums. I’m just trying to get to the next step tho.

Wouldn’t it be better to hire someone instead

Well actually I do hire people, I employ one guy I found under my WP expert and have used him off & on for about the past 5 years.

The site about which I post here the link doesn’t show up.

This is a non-profit /educational site and it’s hundreds of html pages + a few WordPress pages. My budget for it isn’t too high. Thus I like to use the paid guy above to set up a complex thing the 1st time and then try to follow his templates & complete the more simple things myself.

Also due to constant additions/ revisions/ I prefer having a website I can control rather than something where I can’t change anything. Thus paid work doesn’t completely replace working on it myself, but rather supplements it.

However I’ll try to find areas in which I can help. As mentioned I can help some people with image maps. Also when I eventually find a solution to my problem I write it and close the case. I know this is a volunteer driven site, but I’m wondering about the mechanism of connecting people who want to help with people who have questions.

Actually found out that CF-7 has a quiz which suffices. Thus I don’t have to spend all my time helping Google make self driving cars.

The zerospam looks very interesting but why isn’t the Akismet catching ANY Spam? I just renewed my subscription and paid for it. Shouldn’t it at least filter out for keywords involving peoples’ genitalia?

I can find no way to even tag these offensive contacts as Spam.

Also Caputa has been discontinued in favor of a very complex “recaptua” involving Google registration, creation of tagged key pairs and a lot of other crap. This is integrated with Akismet. All so Google can make a buck coming up with new advertising or something.

Yes, really simple Captcha, has been replaced by reCaptcha. This requires integration with Google who captures your website’s details, your identity, and requires you to generate a key pair & a lot of other stuff I haven’t been able to do. At least it’s not called “Simple” any more.

For the moment I don’t use either but just put up with all the emails asking me to buy stuff from my website.

Okay, it’s been a month now & I am not aware of any more answers to my question. As mentioned I got a reply in 15 minutes of my post which just tagged it as “replied to”. That reply was completely unhelpful.

Now 1 month later, there have been no additional replies. While I haven’t posted a large # of questions this has happened in exactly the same manner to 2 of 2 questions posted. An immediate reply (within an hour or so) which doesn’t answer or even look at the question in detail and nothing more ever again.

Perhaps I should wait a year instead of a month for a reply?

I think a correction to the board, allowing the questioner to mark if there has been a useful response would be better. I’d even pay $ from my PayPal account for a useful response. However some mechanism seems to be rewarding people for making immediate 1st response replies, even when those replies are not useful.

Technically the only thing that I can help in are image maps. I did have a query on this subject abt 6 mos ago & after I found the answer I documented it in my followup to my post.

    (@gallienus53)

no, I read thru the recent posts on the problem before posting. That’s why I said that I’ve checked my wordpress Address url & site url.

In the post above they may have been different. In mine they are the same.

Thanks very much. I don’t know what is meant by img tag size but this may explain why the “image mapper” plugin never worked properly but always shifted my hot zones around.

I am just now getting my image maps to work. I found the post by Derek Banas at:

    http://www.newthinktank.com/2011/12/image-maps-in-wordpress-posts/#comment-57588
extremely useful as it has a map that one can link to to get the code to work.

I am next going to try to find more options about imagemaps as I can now get the basic code to work but can do little beyond that. For example no one told me about the fact that my image map at 714 pixels didn’t fit the page at 649 pixels, despite my paying my WP expert several hundred $ to develop the code for me. In the end his code didn’t really work so I had to find it myself.

After many tries I was unable to get it to work w/ WP 4.0. Well, to clarify it would install and run fine for a few minutes, then all the image zones would shift to the left & up so that they no longer conicided with the map.

Since my map consisted of many poly regions for Latin American Nations in the 1850’s, it was very lengthy to redraw the zones when this happened. If you want detailed info pls contact me & I’ll be happy to supply.
