    Hello,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention! We’ve recently published an update that will hopefully address your concerns. We do want to make it clear to users that this plugin only works whenever Contact Form 7 is installed so we have opted to name it ReCaptcha v2 for Contact Form 7. There are also no plans in distributing this plugin outside the WordPress Plugin Repository and it will always be free of charge for users to install, no upsell.

If there’s anything else we can help you with feel free to reach out to us either via email or right here in this thread. Thank you for your contributions to the WordPress community and have a wonderful rest of your week!

    Hello,

It’s difficult to say how or why this is happening. If there is a hole in the plugin bots are getting through, we can’t replicate it. Cross-browser, JavaScript disabled, Mobile, it seems to pass the basic tests. To eliminate the possibly of bots maybe you can combine our plugin with the Contact Form 7 Honeypot plugin which is meant to “trick” bots. If the honeypot plugin is installed and you continue to get trickling spam submissions then it’s probably manual submissions.

We’re always looking for ways to improve our plugin. Should you find any flaws in the submission process or validation process please let us know and we can look into patching it.

We’ll leave this thread open for a bit to see if there’s any community input on the issue. Have a wonderful rest of your week!

Hello @sayna and thank you for the help/suggestion @janbwordpress !

It sounds like you’re having trouble finding the left-hand navigation. First thing’s first: log into your WordPress website. You can append the following to your websites URL in the top address bar to pull up the login screen:

    /wp-admin/
    /login/
    /admin/
    /login.php

So if your domain is example.com you can type the following into your top address bar to pull up the login screen:

    example.com/wp-admin/

On this login screen you’ll need to enter your login credentials. For more information please checkout this WPMU Dev Article regarding the WordPress Login.

This should redirect you to the admin panel and you should see a Dashboard screen with some general information. It will look something like this linked image below:

It’s possible that your left-hand navigation is “collapsed” which means it’s been minimized. If that’s the case then it will not look like the image above and you’ll need to click the arrow icon at the very bottom of the left-hand bar. An example of what that looks like is linked in the image below:

In the above image see the red border around the button you would need to click.

If after reading the above information you need further assistance it may be helpful to contact your host and see if they can walk you through the process. Maybe visiting a local WordPress meetup will be helpful or a local WordCamp. Feel free to reply back to this thread and we can certainly see if we can clarify or help further.

You would need to install this plugin ( Contact Form 7 – reCaptcha v2 ) to revert your Contact Form 7 back to the Version 2 reCaptcha. This additional plugin is a Contact Form 7 extension to revert the old reCaptcha.

Once the plugin linked above has been installed you can follow the Installation Instructions to help you revert your reCaptcha to Version 2.

If you need additional assistance please open a new thread and we would be happy to help!

    Hello,

If you’re running into duplication issues then odds are good it’s a separate issue with the theme or other plugins. We suggest doing the following to help narrow down this issue. The below plugin will allow you to revert to a default theme and allow you to safely disable plugins ( you’ll need to keep Contact Form 7 and this plugin enabled to debug ).

Take a full backup of your theme and database ( you should be doing this regularlly regardless of issues, backups are great! ). Install the WordPress Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This will allow you to safely ( just for your logged in user ) disable all plugins except Contact Form 7 and This plugin to see if the issue persists. It will also allow you to switch to a default theme to see if the issue lies with the theme itself. At which point you can enable plugins until you find the one causing issues.

    https://make.ww.wp.xz.cn/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/#troubleshooting

If you revert to a default theme such as Twenty Nineteen and have only Contact Form 7 and Contact Form 7 – reCaptcha v2 plugin enabled and continue to have this issue we would need a link to your website to debug the issue further. Hopefully the above helps you narrow down the cause. It may be helpful for future readers if you report back what the issue was and how you solved it.

We’ll leave this thread open for now, should you have any additional questions, need further clarification, or figure out your issue please reply back below!

    Hello,

We’ve tested this with the latest version of both Contact Form 7 and this plugin with the Twenty Nineteen theme and didn’t run into the issue described.

Some things to debug this kind of issue.

    1) Ensure both plugins are up to date.

    2) Ensure that the reCaptcha plugin is configured properly and that your domain is whitelisted with the API keys.

    3) If google.com is blocked at your location you can use this plugins settings to have the API use recaptcha.net instead.

    4) Take a full backup of your theme and database ( you should be doing this regularlly regardless of issues, backups are great!

We’ll leave this thread open and hope to hear from other users who either have the same issue or are not having issues but the above will at least help you narrow down what could be causing this problem. If you do end up finding a solution we would love it if you were to report back here and let us know, maybe there’s something we can do on our end to prevent this type of issue from cropping up in the future.

    Hello,

These looks like styles and scripts that are loaded within the iframe created by Google specifically to display the ReCaptcha. Unfortunately, since theses are iframed in the provided google website we have no control over them. They will load everytime it’s requested. This appears to be a known issue that either hasn’t gotten enough attention or is something that has no (or needs an) easy solution.

    https://github.com/google/recaptcha/issues/236

I do not believe there is anything we can do on our end to circumvent this issue at this time. Thank you for bringing it to our attention none-the-less though and have a wonderful rest of your week!

    Hello,

This plugin specifically works with reCaptcha v2 which doesn’t add an reCaptcha badge on the bottom side of your screen, that would be recaptcha v3. If you’re referring to the v2 captcha in a form, Google makes it difficult to size down. We would suggest using the compact attribute on the recaptcha shortcode to make it smaller.

    [recaptcha size:compact]

If you’re working with the v3 version of reCaptcha then it would be better to pose those questions on the Contact Form 7 support forums.

    Hello,

This is likely not an issue with this plugin but with the Contact Form 7 plugin. Either a configuration issue or conflict with the theme or plugins. It may be best to open a thread on their support forums. One way to test this theory is to remove the reCaptcha shortcode, submit the form, and see if it has the same issue.

It appears that Contact Form 7 is not submitting dynamically (via JS) as it should. If you submit the form without filing out the reCaptcha you can see it redirects back to the same page and appends the Contact Form 7 ID.

You can install the WordPress Healthcheck & Troubleshooting plugin while following their documentation to safely disable plugins and revert to a default theme until you find the issue. When doing this make sure that Contact Form 7 is active during debugging mode and submit the form ( even with errors ) to see if it dynamically submits or it redirects.

If you’re dev savvy you can enable debugging to ensure there’s no PHP issues causing this error. If you’re not dev savvy please do not attempt as it can break your site: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

Hopefully the above helps you narrow down the issue. Should you have any other questions please reply back to this thread and we can help you further.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as adding the ending HTML. Something is preventing the rest of the page from loading in either the parent theme or child theme. This means that nothing in wp_footer() will run regardless if someone adds in the ending </html> tag. Odds are it’s a PHP error that’s stopping the rest of the script from processing as that’s a usual culprit when we see pages end abruptly such as this. It will probably need developer intervention.

You may be able to track it down with the following information as maybe there’s a place in the admin panel where it can be fixed. It stops right at the organic-nonprofit-footer-text – maybe there’s a widget with a shortcode under Appearance -> Widgets that’s erroring out. Maybe check The Customizer ( Appearance -> Customize ) for anything that relates to the footer-text and empty out that section.

Hopefully the above information helps you narrow down what is causing this issue. Should you have any other questions or need further assistance please reply back to this ticket and we can discuss this further. Have a great weekend!

    Hello,

It’s certainly possible that theme is not the root cause and that a plugin is conflicting or erroring out causing the footer not to display properly. If you activate a default theme and view the page source the last tag you should see is </html> which ends the document. Before the document ends it’s standard practice to call wp_footer() which is where some crucial script runs which instantiates the recaptcha.

You can enable debugging and take care of any PHP issues logged by the theme or plugins. The Debug Bar may be helpful in this case.
