Sorry for the trouble. I seemed to have figured out it was my ad-blocker on my chrome causing the issue. Although it’s interesting that I have a different blocker for safari on my phone, but it still causes this same issue, even though it was fine until now. Thank you for your help!
I do have jetpack installed, those are jetpacks settings, and I turned on the setting for both login from wordpress.com and ‘Allow readers to leave comments using their WordPress.com, Twitter, Facebook, or Google+ accounts’ as stated in my original post.
The problem with turning on ‘users must be logged in’ is that it doesn’t allow for logins from other social media, even though I have the option enabled.
