If that outgoing connection to that URL is being blocked, I’m afraid that the plugin won’t be able to work from version 1.3 onward. If they’re able to allow outgoing connections through the other URL that I posted (<your datacenter>.api.mailchimp.com, http://status.mailchimp.com/which_datacenter_am_i_using), you should be able to use version 1.2.14: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/mailchimp/developers/
Otherwise, you may consider trying the MailChimp embed code, which is outlined here: http://kb.mailchimp.com/article/how-can-i-add-my-signup-form-on-my-website/

For versions of the plugin 1.3+, you’ll want to have the host allow connections to “https://sopresto.socialize-this.com/mailchimp/”.
For versions of the plugin prior to 1.3, you’ll want to have them allow connections to “http://<dc>.api.mailchimp.com/”, where <dc> is the datacenter your account is on. Ex. “http://us2.api.mailchimp.com/”. If you’re testing other third-party MailChimp plugins that use API keys and are seeing issues, you’ll want to follow these directions too.

Do you happen to know what they’re specifically blocking? And you mentioned that the plugin is still not working for you. Can you clarify whether you’re seeing the same “Uh-oh, Sie haben noch keine Listen..” issue or something different?

Since you’re seeing issues with both our plugin and the third party plugin which uses an API key, I’d recommend reaching out to your host to see if they’re blocking any outgoing connections/ports.

Thanks for posting. Would you be able to try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies, then trying to connect to the plugin again? Also, can you confirm that you’re seeing the same issue across multiple browsers? And if so, can you provide me with the names of the browsers that you’ve tried on? Then, on my end I can setup a similar WP and Plugin version to try and replicate your issue.
As this does sound like it may be something unique to the host environment, I’d also recommend temporarily disabling all other plugins on the WordPress site and then trying to connect the MailChimp plugin again. If it works, it might mean that another plugin is conflicting with ours, to which I’d be happy to investigate further if that seems to be the case.
Let me know if you have any additional questions or continue seeing problems after trying the above!

Thanks for posting! WP v3.7.1 and MailChimp’s v1.3 plugin are working fine on my end, so you shouldn’t see any outright conflict between the two. This means there may be something local or unique to the hosting environment that may be causing the issue that you’re seeing to occur.
If you’re looking to give the latest version of the plugin a try (we’re on v1.4.1 now), I’d recommend re-installing the plugin, then clearing the cache and cookies on your browser. Alternatively/additionally, it’s worth giving it a try on another browser as well to see if the issue replicates.
To clarify, after the ‘Connect’ button is clicked, you should get a popup window that has a MailChimp login screen where you can enter your username and password. Let us know if in testing the above if you’re still seeing your website in the popup window.

You won’t have to explicitly set a list id in the plugin settings. Instead, you should see a dropdown menu which contains the active lists on your MailChimp account, to which you can choose from by name. With the error message you’re seeing, it looks like the plugin’s connected to a list that’s no longer active on the account (i.e. it’s been deleted).
In testing the form on the url provided, I’m able to enter an email address and sign up as expected, so it’s possible that you may have already resolved this issue. Let me know if you’re still seeing the issue on your end.

I had edited my post a bit after making it, since I discovered some info that perhaps it’s not something specific to your host, so sorry about any confusion (though I appreciate you having checked with godaddy on that). Seems to be working when I test the form currently, though it’s possible that you may have rolled the version back since you were having problems.
Can you confirm that you’re still seeing the unresponsive form? Also, can you tell us the version number of the plugin that you’re upgrading to and which browsers you’re seeing the unresponsive interaction with? Thanks!
