Hi @wilhal,
Several years is a long run, and it’s great to hear it’s still holding up well for you. The support team will be glad to hear the praise too.
Two thumbs up right back at you!
Hi @poonasor,

Hi @rwang33,
There are two ways this can be fixed. You can either get a Google Places API key for unlimited sources by following this guide: Creating a Google API Key for the Reviews Feed – Smash Balloon, or we can do a manual reset of source limit for you as it can take a few days for the limit to automatically reset on your site.
For a manual reset, please submit a support request via the form on our website,ย https://smashballoon.com/support/, and include the System Info. To obtain this information, please follow the steps on this page:ย https://smashballoon.com/doc/how-to-get-system-info. We ask you to use our form, as the System Info contains other website information from your site, which we do not suggest posting here.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.
Hi @dmwesq,
The stacking order of your site’s sections, such as whether the main content area containing your feed appears before or after the widget sidebar on mobile devices, is primarily controlled by your WordPress theme’s specific layout and structure rather than the Smash Balloon plugin itself.
To change the position of the feed you will need to find where the feed shortcode is inserted. The shortcode looks similar to this:[instagram-feed feed=1]remove it from the bottom of your content area and re-insert it in the sidebar widgets area. In most themes, you’ll be able to edit the widgets area in your WordPress dashboard under Appearance > Widgets. https://smashballoon.com/how-to-add-an-instagram-widget-to-wordpress/I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @lenamoreau,
The review feed on your website should update automatically with new reviews. If new reviews are not being updated automatically in the feed, please try the steps below to refresh the feed:
- Go to yourย WordPress dashboard > Reviews Feed > Settings > Feeds tab > Click theย Clear All Caches button
- Go toย WordPress dashboard > Reviews Feed > All Feedsย > click the pencil icon to edit the feed
- Click on the Settings Tab > Sources > click the trashcan icon to remove the reviews source, then add it back by clickingย Add another source.ย This will reset the source within that particular feed.
- Click Save
In the feed settings, if you do not have a Google places API key that is connected in the Reviews Feed plugin, I would recommend getting and implementing one. You can follow this guide for how: https://smashballoon.com/doc/creating-a-google-api-key/
Please let me know if you have questions.

Hi @clairporium!
Thanks for reaching out, and sorry you’re experiencing this. The symptoms you’re describing โ huge icons on both backend and frontend โ typically point to a CSS or icon font loading issue. Let’s narrow it down:
Quick checks:
- Browser Console โ Right-click anywhere on the page โ Inspect โ Console tab. Look for any red 404 errors (missing CSS/font files) or JavaScript errors. Screenshot anything you see.
- 2. Theme Conflict โ Temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme (like Twenty Twenty-Four). Does the issue persist? If it fixes it, your theme is likely overriding plugin styles.
- 3. Plugin Conflict โ Disable all plugins except YouTube Feed. Does it work? Re-enable one by one to find the culprit.
- 4. Cache โ Clear any site cache (plugin cache, CDN like Cloudflare, browser cache). Sometimes CSS updates don’t load properly.
- 5. Plugin Version โ What version of YouTube Feed FREE are you running? (Dashboard โ Plugins)
Specifically for the frontend:
The “titles with play icons instead of videos” suggests the video embed CSS is broken or the lazy-load JavaScript isn’t firing. Check if you see any errors in the browser console when scrolling to the feed area.Let us know what you find from the steps above, especially any console errors โ that’ll help us pinpoint it fast! If possible, please edit your initial post to include your website’s affected page URL as this will allow us to check the issue directly on your website.

Hi @jimk1416,
Thank you for contacting us for help with your Instagram feed plugin settings not updating.
The issue you described is usually due to a conflict with one of your plugins. To determine if a conflict with another plugin or theme is causing the issue, please follow these steps:
- Switch Theme: Temporarily switch your site to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Three and check if the issue persists. If switching themes resolves the problem, the issue originates from your theme. Please contact your theme’s author for assistance.
- Deactivate Plugins: Temporarily deactivate all third-party plugins to see if the issue is resolved. If it is, reactivate the plugins one at a time, checking for the issue each time a plugin is reactivated. When the issue reappears, the last activated plugin is likely the source of the conflict.
Once you find the conflicting plugin/theme, please let us know so we can replicate the issue on our end and address it.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.Best Regards,

Hi @typ,
It is possible that Cloudflare’s caching or security settings are affecting the plugin’s ability to update the feed and connect the account.
First, to address the feed not updating, Cloudflare might be caching the page too aggressively or blocking the background tasks. Please try adding cachetime=60 to the shortcode of your feed (e.g., [instagram-feed cachetime=60]). This will change the type of caching used by our plugin from “Background” caching to “Page” caching, which is based on when the page is loaded and usually bypasses external caching mechanisms like Cloudflare.
Second, regarding the connection issues, Cloudflare’s firewall or security rules might be blocking access to the admin-ajax.php file. The use of admin-ajax.php is the officially supported method for using AJAX with WordPress, and our plugin relies on it during the connection process. Please check your Cloudflare security and firewall logs to see if any requests to admin-ajax.php are being blocked, and allow them if necessary.
We also recommend clearing your Cloudflare cache completely after making these changes.
If the above does not work, the issue likely is not being caused by CloudFlare. To investigate further, please submit a support request via the form on our website,ย https://smashballoon.com/support/, and include the System Info.ย

Hi @plb1968,
My apologies for the inconvenience caused by the email verification loop. Since this thread opened our team has identified the cause of the issue our developers are actively working on a fix for a future update. In the time being, you can add a Google Places API key to the plugin which is a reliable reviews source, or I can do a manual reset for you from our side.
For a manual reset, please submit a support request via the form on our website,ย https://smashballoon.com/support/, and include the System Info.ยTo obtain this information, please follow the steps on this page: https://smashballoon.com/doc/how-to-get-system-info. Hi @calderacare,
My apologies for the issue you encountered while verifying your email address. I have manually reset the email address that was verified for your website. Something may have disrupted the verification step the first time around causing subsequent attempts to fail as you are limited to one verification at a time. Please try to verify your email one more time.
Please let me know if you have questions.
