In reply to: [Rich Showcase for Google Reviews] Avatar not ShowingHi @y2kwebs,
Thank you for your message.
Based on the symptoms, this appears to be a compatibility issue with the Smush plugin’s image optimization or lazy loading feature and the dynamically displayed review images.
Our plugin uses standard WordPress functions to retrieve and render these images, so as a first troubleshooting step, could you please temporarily disable Smush and clear the site cache to check whether the images start displaying correctly again?
If the issue is resolved after disabling Smush, the best next step would be to either exclude the review images from Smush optimization/lazy loading or contact the Smush support team and ask them to check why their optimization process affects these dynamically generated images.
Please let us know the result of this test, and we’ll be happy to assist further.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Rich Showcase for Google Reviews] Estonian languageHi,
Thank you for reaching out.
At the moment, Google does not provide review images through the official Google Places API, so they cannot currently be displayed. Because of this, the “Show review images” option is not available at this time. If Google adds support for review images in the future, we will be happy to review this functionality again.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Rich Showcase for Google Reviews] Plugin doesnt display recent reviews (3)Hi @svweb,
Thank you for reaching out!
The plugin uses the official Google Places API to fetch your reviews. Please note that the API is limited by Google to return only the 5 reviews. When Google updates this selection, the plugin will automatically reflect those changes. This is a restriction on Google’s side, rather than a limitation of the plugin itself.
You can verify exactly what Google provides by entering your Place ID and API key into the following URL:
https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/place/details/json?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID&key=YOUR_GOOGLE_API_KEYIf you have received new reviews that aren’t appearing, it simply means Google hasn’t included them in the “top 5” yet. Once they appear in the API response, the plugin will display them.
Also we recommend to turn on the option ‘Use old Places API‘ in wp-admin Google Reviews / Settings / Google. The old API has a recent sorting and can receive more latest reviews.
Please let us know if you have any question.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Rich Showcase for Google Reviews] Some owner response is not showingHi @devlaju,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
The Google Places API does not return owner responses, and currently, this is the only official way to display reviews. Unfortunately, it is not possible to display them within this plugin at this time.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Rich Showcase for Google Reviews] Languages and translation under WMPLHi @manuxx34,
Thank you for reaching out.
The plugin uses the global settings via the option Settings / General / Site Language. There’s not WPML support yet.
However, language of retrieved Google reviews does not depend on this option, to show it in Spanish, you need to create a new widget (page Google Reviews / Widgets) and select Spanish in the connection modal (where you initially searched for your business).
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Rich Showcase for Google Reviews] We Can’t Get Past the Connection WizardHi @manuxx34,
Thank you for your response.
It seems you’re using the plugin with your own Google API key, but this key maybe is wrong.
Please remove the API key on the page Google Reviews / Settings / Google and try to connect reviews again.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Rich Showcase for Google Reviews] Update frequencyHi @alice1000,
Thank you for your topic.
If you enable weekly updates, a cron job runs once a week to update Google Places one by one. However, the job is limited to a short execution time (5 seconds by default). It updates as many places as possible within that window, and the remaining ones stay in the queue to be updated the following week.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Rich Showcase for Google Reviews] Column width on mobile viewHi @kathrynmichaud,
Thank you for your topic.
By default, one review is displayed on mobile, so no extra settings are necessary. However, it seems that you are using a different plugin. Please let us know if your question is still relevant.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Rich Showcase for Google Reviews] Network ErrorHi @mon777herdl,
Thank you for your reply.
The Google location link you sent appears to have no reviews. Is that correct? If so, it is not possible to connect this place in the plugin because the business must have at least one review and a rating. This is a limitation of the Google Places API, which the plugin uses to display ratings and reviews.
Please let us know if I am missing anything.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Rich Showcase for Google Reviews] Network ErrorHi @mon777herdl,
Thank you for your topic.
Could you please send a link to your business on Google map?
Something is wrong with the Place ID in the autocomplete search.
Thanks!
Hi @lesi2000,
Thank you for you topic.
Please let me describe how the plugin works.
At the moment, the plugin shows reviews using the public Google Places API, which can return only up to 5 reviews. The plugin also uses the old Places API, which may return some recent Google reviews, with a maximum of up to 10 reviews in total on the initial load.
However, if both methods return the same reviews, or some of the reviews overlap, the final number may be lower than 10, for example 7 or 8 reviews.
So this is a limitation of the Google Places API, not of the plugin itself.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
