In reply to: Is my child theme in fact an orphan?I have that already and have been using it.
Methinks I’m grasping the idea of child/parent.
Thanks for your help guys.Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Is my child theme in fact an orphan?Ross and Jan,
Thanks for the responses and sorry I got back late.
@ross – further reading after I posted here confirms your warning.
@jan – my site is http://www.sahha.org – I’d appreciate a knowledgeable look at what I’m doing.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but are you able to see the style.css sheet and child/parent setup without being logged in?
Thanks again Gents,
S.

In reply to: Is my child theme in fact an orphan? Thanks Remax,
I sort of understand that.
A style.css in the child which only has the header lines you posted above and no code means the site uses all the style.css of the parent.
In my case, no css code in the child style.css = no css formatting at all on the site.
As though the site is ONLY using the child css but not the parent css.
I think it may be because the parent style.css is missing the line
Template: parentname which the codex says is required.I’m going to change the header of the parent theme to match exactly the header of the child and include all required lines.

Thanks MacManX,

In reply to: Switching from wp.COM to wp.OrgThanks for the response MacMan,
I’ve set up a new domain name and will be transferring the blog to there so I guess I’ll be rebuilding google credit from scratch. Live and learn.
I know about exporting from wp.com then importing to wp.org. I experimented with a couple of test blogs.
Once the self host is set up, should I then delete the wp.com blog? or at least delete the posts there so it doesn’t look like a copy/mirror site?
Any advise on that aspect? It’s a bit hairy at this stage because I’m dealing with my primary blog and don’t want to make a stupid mistake.
Best

In reply to: Installing theme troubleI don’t want to take up your time but I started the day thinking it was a straight forward proposition. Twelve hours later I’m still trying!
Thanks for your help though – I’m trying the instructions from the link you provided above.
Cheers!

In reply to: Installing theme troubleI’m trying to make something where kids can click on the game and play it.
Simple (flash, I think) games for kids, like puzzles, educational games, simple car racing games for boys, hairstyling for girls.
Very simple games for pre-school to 10 year old kids.
Simple, engaging and educational.

In reply to: Installing theme troubleYou mean like theme twenty eleven and launch a game site around that??
That sounds like it needs much technical expertise.
I’ve been searching and reading but not found a guide to how to set up a simple game site.
Much appreciate if you know where I can get some info on doing that.

In reply to: Installing theme troubleYes I’m afraid it was!
But I did try Tirqui earlier and got the same response.
That is a theme, got it from the official site AND it contains a style.css file but I got the same message.
Been on this all day and still no running games theme.
