I have accessed the database through SFTP from our host and deleted the staging sited manually and was able to install the plugin afterwards. Now that everything is working fine, would you still recommend deleting the above mentioned tables im phpmyadmin?

I have now accessed the database though phpmyadmin, can you check whether the tables in the attached screenshot are the ones that need to be dropped / deleted (basically all of them beginning with wpstg)?
https://snipboard.io/41hjzy.jpgAlso, now when I try to install Wp Staging or other plugins it fails saying “Der Zielordner existiert bereits.” which means that the destination directory has already been created. Not sure how I can delete those, so that I can install the plugins.

I can still install other plugins but not WP Staging. And by deleting the plugin I should have opened up sufficient space to re-install it considering there were three staging sites within the plugin that were deleted alongside it.

I have found the issue. Once I deactivated the “WooCommerce Zahlungen” plugin, I was able to import historical data. Fortunately, we do not rely on the plugin, so it was no problem removing it.
