UPDATE on the situation. I discovered that everything works fine from my friend’s account on the site and it seems that only my account is having these troubles.
Still trying to find a definitive answer.
I remember a friend who told me once his visual editor disappeared (but text editor was still there) because he had AdBlock enabled in his browser, so maybe if you have adblock of any kinda installed in your browser try disabling it for your site.

I’m no expert, but I’ll try maybe to give you a few ideas. Did you try to disable all plugins and then check ? If it works then enable plugins one by one and try to determine which one messes it up for you.
Another thing could be adblock in your browser. If you maybe have AdBlock Plus or any other adblocker try disabling it, delete cache from your browser and try again.
