You can use !important property in your css code to fix this.
Example :
.data-target-div1 #caf-filter-layout1 li a.active {
color:#fff !important;
}

Thanks for sharing the detailed concern that you want to build with CAF. But for now this is not possible even PRO version nor free. We are continousely working to build this better so will try to add this feature in future versions.

You can set the posts order from plugin settings.
Settings are available under CAF Admin Settings->Appearance->Sorting section.

Thanks for reaching out. Actually it would be possible in the PRO version of the plugin.
Pro plugin have the feature so you can override any of the post layout to your theme and easily modify the template code. So it will not effect even after plugin upgrade. It’s useful to add custom code to the template.

Even you can modify the full post template code too. In the PRO version you can overrite the post template to your theme and make changes accordingly.
