In reply to: [Wordfence Security - Firewall, Malware Scan, and Login Security] amazingIt’s kind of you to share your thoughts with us and the WordPress community, @tommygogd. We appreciate your five-star review of Wordfence!
Peter.
Hi @jonichuaaa, thanks for reaching out.
If you did have an existing license to add, you should be able to paste it directly into the top of the Wordfence > All Options page. If not, it may be best to check the text (or video) from our site just to make sure you’ve followed the same process: Installing your Free License Key.
Even if not fully configured, Wordfence won’t refuse to delete from WordPress by design when Deactivate and Delete on the Plugins > Installed Plugins page are chosen. There may be a file permissions issue or a PHP fatal error being thrown in the background.
Enable logging (if it isn’t already), retry deleting Wordfence, then inspect your
debug.logfile immediately. We may be able to help with the specific error message, unless it’s related to permissions or a server setting that you or your host may be able to rectify. Many thanks,
Peter.Hi @jessika45, thanks for getting in touch.
Wordfence > All Options > Email Alert Preferences contains the checkboxes for which emails you’d like to receive.
“Alert me when someone with administrator access signs in” and possibly, “Only alert me when that administrator signs in from a new device or location” are related to the issue you’ve mentioned, but you can also take a look at the others if you feel that you’re receiving too many overall.
Many thanks,
Peter.Hi @adslusax, thank-you for sending that over.
Regarding the Central disconnection you mentioned in your email: There don’t appear to be any connectivity issues to our servers or in the loopback connection to your own site. The message suggests it was disconnected from within your account on wordfence.com. Log in and take a look whether the site appears under the Connection Issues tab. If it does, simply click the trash icon to remove it. If it doesn’t (or you’ve just clicked the trash icon in the previous step) you can then try reconnecting from within Central.
The diagnostic you sent wasn’t the txt export, but rather a printed to PDF version of the diagnostic page you see in the browser. A txt file can be downloaded that contains more data when the EXPORT button is pressed on the top-right of the page. I apologize for not making that clearer in my previous instructions.
There aren’t any email-specific errors I can see in your logs, or really any failures from the diagnostic page that might explain why emails are failing. Are emails sending from your other plugins, or your WordPress site in general right now?
I could suggest setting up a temporary code snippet to try logging the reason why emails are failing. However, if you’re not comfortable making those sorts of changes, your host’s support would be best placed to test, diagnose, and resolve any sending issues from the server directly. By all means if anything they discover points directly to Wordfence, we can make appropriate suggestions to you based on their findings.
Many thanks,
Peter.Hi @studioforonda,
For trouble with signing into your account on wordfence.com, please send an email to lockout @ wordfence . com and provide the original email address/username that is associated with the account.
We aren’t able to discuss the Premium version in detail here on the forums, so our team at presales @ wordfence . com can help you if you have further questions about the product before making a purchase.
Regarding scans, if you have Premium Support once you regain access to your Wordfence account, then that’s your best option. However, if the site is on a free license I’ll be more than happy to help here:
- Go to the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page
- In the “Debugging Options” section, check “Enable debugging mode”
- Click to “Save Changes”.
- CANCEL any current scan and start a NEW scan
- Copy the last 20 lines from the Log (click the “Show Log” link) or so of the activity log once the scan finishes and paste them in this post.
That should help us get started to see what might be preventing the scan from completing.
Many thanks,
Peter.Hi @drxj,
They’re ordered by recency (descending from newest to oldest) to match the Live Traffic feed order itself. If you feel ordering by total number would be a good addition or better fit, by all means detail your use-case and preference to feedback @ wordfence . com. Our development and QA teams consider and discuss all customer suggestions.
Many thanks,
Peter.Hi @knittingand,
Looking at the scan logs you sent us earlier along with the recent log above, it looks like the scans are being silently stopped by something on your server, as the logs just end without explanation or a clear error. Resource restrictions look like they may be in place, but your host would know more unless your PHP error logs reveal some clues around the times scans are ending. We’d be happy to see those if you were willing to send them over?
You could try running a scan with Wordfence > All Options > Performance Options > Maximum execution time for each scan stage to
8(the lowest) to see if that helps. Thanks again,
Peter. It’s great that you’ve seen the benefits of protecting your site with Wordfence and are endorsing it to the WordPress community with this excellent five-star review @larkinslair. We really appreciate you taking the time to detail your experience.
Peter.
We’re delighted to hear that @jamilbhatti and are thankful for your five-star review.
Peter.
Thank-you @supakarn for your 5* review! We appreciate it.
Peter.
That’s excellent to see @larrykenemorejr! We’re delighted that you’re happy with the support you’ve received and are enjoying the plugin overall.
Peter.
Hi @wpnitro,
As we hadn’t heard back from you, I took a look for your email and found that you had sent it. I found the affected site under the “Connection Issues” tab and was unable to reconnect it myself as I don’t have access to the site itself as admin, so removed it to be freshly reconnected as suggested in our documentation.
You should now be able to connect it from the site’s end using the Wordfence > Dashboard > Wordfence Central Status panel.
Let us know if you continue to see issues,
Peter.Thank-you for your excellent review of Wordfence @slizottelatendresse! We’re delighted to hear that the plugin has protected your site and eased any worries you may have had about bots trying to access it.
Peter.
Hi @adslusax,
wp_mail()returning false means WordPress failed before it successfully handed the email off for sending to your server or SMTP plugin. Are there any other plugins successfully sending emails during this time?If you know that you’re using an SMTP plugin to handle WordPress email, see if there are any errors in its logs too. I’m assuming postfix or sendmail has already been restarted on the server from earlier along with any caches being cleared.
You can export your Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page as a txt file, which might help us understand the server environment better. Please then attach and send it from your email account to wftest @ wordfence . com.
Please include your forum username in the subject line to help us track it down. Also let us know in the body of the email which site URL is which (working vs. non-working). Once sent, let us know here as the inbox isn’t actively monitored.
Thanks again,
Peter.
