Hi,
Layout or color issues after restoring a backup usually happen when CSS or theme files weren’t fully restored or the cache is still serving old styles.
Please try these steps:
1. Clear your site and browser cache (and any caching plugin you use).
2. Re-save your theme’s settings or regenerate CSS files if your theme has that option.
3. Check if the Themes component was included in your restore — if not, try restoring it again. If the issue persists, please share your backup log file (found under Settings → UpdraftPlus → Existing Backups → View Log) so we can take a closer look.
Kind regards,
BryleHi,

BryleHi,
You can download earlier versions of UpdraftPlus directly from the plugin’s page on ww.wp.xz.cn.
Just go to the Advanced View section, scroll down to the Previous Versions dropdown, and select the version you want to install.
Once downloaded, you can upload and install it manually via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin in your WordPress dashboard.
Hope that helps!

BryleHi,
It looks like the backup process is getting stuck while exporting the wp_posts table — this usually happens when the table is large or the server times out before it can finish.
Please try increasing your server’s PHP limits (especially max_execution_time and memory_limit) and then run the backup again. You can also optimize your database from your host’s control panel or using a plugin like WP-Optimize to help it process faster.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] FTP login failsHi,
It sounds like UpdraftPlus can connect but isn’t able to create or write files on your FTP server.
In most cases, this happens because the remote path (the folder path entered in the FTP settings) is incorrect or doesn’t have write permissions. Please double-check or try adjusting the remote path — for example, if it’s currently /, try something like /public_html/ or /backups/ (depending on your host’s setup).
Also, make sure the FTP user has full write access to that folder.
Thanks,
BryleHi,
UpdraftPlus backs up your site in separate parts: database, plugins, themes, uploads, and “Others.” The core WordPress files (the WordPress software itself) are not backed up because they are always available from ww.wp.xz.cn.
The “Others” section includes everything else in your WordPress folder that isn’t in plugins, themes, or uploads, for example custom files or extra folders added by plugins. Files like wp-config.php and .htaccess are included here too.
You can set a weekly full backup in the UpdraftPlus > Settings page, and if you don’t enable incrementals it will only run full backups.

BryleHi,
LiteSpeed often has issues running WordPress tasks that take more than a short time, which affects all backup plugins. One fix you can try is adding this line near the top of your site’s .htaccess file:
RewriteRule .* - [E=noabort:1]If that doesn’t solve it, the next option is to add this to your wp-config.php define(‘ALTERNATE_WP_CRON’, true); which you already have done.
If neither works, you’ll need to ask your hosting company why scheduled tasks are being stopped, as this is a server issue, not specific to UpdraftPlus. In some cases, switching hosts is the only reliable fix.
This is according our FAQs here: https://teamupdraft.com/documentation/updraftplus/topics/backing-up/troubleshooting/backups-failing-on-litespeed-server/
Thanks,
BryleHi,
Can you also please check if you have any whitespace at top or bottom of your wp-config.php? If yes can you please remove it?
More information about the warning here and how to resolve – https://teamupdraft.com/documentation/updraftplus/topics/general/troubleshooting/problems-with-extra-white-space/.
Let us know if that helps.Regards,
BryleHi,
Could you please share a recent backup log with us so we can check what’s happening? You can find the log in the Backup/Restore tab → Existing Backups section. If it’s long, you can paste it to a service like Pastebin and share the link here.
Just to clarify, UpdraftPlus splits backups into different parts by design — for example, database, plugins, themes, uploads, and others. Large files are also split into smaller archives (by default every 400MB). This means you may see multiple files per backup set in Google Drive, but they all belong to a single backup run.
Once we have the log, we’ll be able to confirm if those 100+ files are multiple separate backups or just the normal parts of a few backups.
Best,
BryleHi Guido,
The Google Drive authorization details aren’t stored in your Google Cloud project itself — they’re saved within your WordPress site. When you move your site to a new domain, those saved details no longer match, so the plugin asks you to reconnect.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Unable to connect to FTPHi,
You’re logged in successfully, but the plugin can’t create a file in the folder. Please check that the FTP folder path in Settings > Remote Storage > FTP is correct and points to a writable folder (e.g. backups), not the full server path. Then use an FTP client with the same credentials to confirm you can create/delete a file there. Also check folder permissions (755 is common), make sure you’re not out of disk quota, and try toggling passive mode or enabling SSL/TLS if your host requires it. If it still fails, please share a screenshot of your FTP settings (hiding host/user) and the backup log after the failed test.
Best regards,
BryleHi,
Thanks for sharing the backup log. For this issue, we’ll actually need the restoration log, not the backup log.
Could you please get the restoration log file from your site’s /wp-content/updraft/ directory via FTP (or File Manager) and attach it here? That will give us more details on why the restore is failing.
Regards,
BryleHi Igor,
UpdraftPlus backups follow a specific filename format in order to be recognized.
If the uploaded files don’t match this format, they won’t appear even after clicking Rescan local folder for new backup sets. Please note that backup files must not be renamed manually, as this will break the internal references.
Could you please share a screenshot of the backup files you uploaded?
Best,
BryleHi Vinay,
Thanks for all information.
Can you also please send us a copy of the restoration log?
You can find this log in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory of your site via FTP.
You can send the log file as an attachment or copy the contents into an online tool (such as http://pastebin.com/ )Best Wishes,
BryleHi,
In UpdraftPlus, “Others” is just one of the backup components. It includes files outside of your themes, plugins, and uploads — typically extra files created by themes or plugins.
When you see the “Download to your Computer” option, it does exactly what it says: it lets you download that specific backup component (for example, the “Others” archive) directly to your computer from your site. It’s the same file that was also uploaded to Google Drive, but this option just saves a copy locally.
To have the complete website backup on your computer, you’d need to download all of the backup components (database, plugins, themes, uploads, and others) one by one. Together, those files make up the full backup set.
Kind regards,
Bryle
