Thank you for your topic.
This plugin has a limit on connecting and updating reviews from the same IP address. This is done to protect our infrastructure from unauthorized use. Accordingly, if about 3-5 connections of new reviews or updates were made from one IP, then the next time this can be done in 3 days.
With your own API key there’re not limits.

We recommend to enable ‘Use old Places API‘ on the page in wp-admin Google Reviews / Settings / Google tab, because it has a recent sorting method and can retrieve more reviews in updating.

I would like to clarify that the plugin does not redirect any traffic to external servers. It connects directly to Google’s API from the your WordPress server. It seems that the issue you’re experiencing is related to the API key restrictions you’ve set up, specifically the IP or referer restrictions. Our plugin does not pass a referer header (or IP6) when making requests to Google Places API, which could be causing this error.
As a temporary solution, I suggest disabling the referrer or IP restrictions for the API key in the Google Console.
In the future versions we plan to add this option (pass IPv6 or referrer) in the request.
