Muchas gracias por tu review, Chete!
Un saludo 🙂
Hi charlieve02,
That’s correct, and no worries, our plugin is safe and shouldn’t cause any issues (although you should always have a backup of your site in place, no plugin is 100% bug-free).
Best,
Hi deeveearr,
I’m not sure I understood the issue here; from my side I can edit any image with the WordPress editor even if it’s already optimized. Could you maybe send us some screenshots so we see what you (expect to) see?
In any case, in order to stop ShortPixel from optimizing images automatically, you just need to disable the “Optimize media on upload” option in ShortPixel’s settings. That will stop any image from being automatically optimized.
Best,
Hi Francesco,
Thanks for reaching out!
The error message you’re seeing — “Got a packet bigger than ‘max_allowed_packet’ bytes” — is probably related to a MySQL server setting on your hosting environment. Specifically, it means that the data being sent to the database exceeds the current limit set by your server for a single query.
This issue is not caused by our plugin, but rather by a server configuration that restricts how much data can be processed at once.
We recommend contacting your hosting provider and asking them to increase the
max_allowed_packetvalue in the MySQL configuration.Let us know if you need anything else — we’re happy to help!
Best regards,
Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out to us and for considering our plugin for your image optimization needs! I’d be happy to clarify your questions.
- Image attributes (Alt Text and Title) – Yes, all image attributes such as Alt Text and Title will be preserved when converting your images to WebP. These attributes are stored in the WordPress database, not in the image files themselves, so the conversion process will not affect them.
- Deleting original JPEG/PNG files – We strongly advise against removing the original images. This isn’t directly related to Google rankings (as Google can handle WebP images well), but rather because of how ShortPixel works. The plugin creates WebP files alongside your original images and serves them only to browsers that support WebP. If you delete the original JPEG/PNG files, users with older browsers that don’t support WebP will encounter broken images. Moreover, removing these originals could also cause issues in your WordPress Media Library and database, as our plugin references the original files for management.
- Disabling automatic optimization – Yes, you can deactivate automatic optimization in the plugin settings. However, this toggle applies to all image types, not just JPEGs. So, if you turn it off, no images (including WebP) will be automatically optimized. While it is technically possible to delete JPEG/PNG images manually from the server, we don’t recommend this, as it would create conflicts and potentially result in blank images appearing in your Media Library.
If you want to primarily serve WebP images, we suggest keeping your original files as fallbacks while letting ShortPixel handle WebP delivery for supported browsers. This ensures full compatibility and avoids any potential issues.
Please let me know if you have more questions or need assistance with setting up your plugin – I’ll be happy to help!

In reply to: [Enable Media Replace] Bricks Builder compatibility: still not fixed?Hi Lbch,
Thank you for your message.
You’re correct—the issue is still on our backlog, and at this time, we don’t have an estimated timeline for a fix, as we’re currently focused on higher-priority items.
That said, we’ll do our best to address it as soon as possible. Since this is a free plugin, any contributions from the community are greatly appreciated. If you happen to find a solution, feel free to submit a pull request here: https://github.com/short-pixel-optimizer/enable-media-replace
Thank you for your understanding and support!

In reply to: [Autoload Checker] Checker totals not updatingHi Carolyn,
Sorry about the delay. No, there is no time lag. I’m suspecting this is a cache-related issue, so make sure yo clear it!
Hi souravjj4,
We’ll be happy to answer all your questions, but to keep things organized, and since this is a review of another user, could you please open a new thread on the support forums? https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/shortpixel-image-optimiser/
Thank you!

In reply to: [Enable Media Replace] Just uploading files doesn’t replace themHi harun2024,
We already have this feature in our backlog, but unfortunately we don’t have any ETA 🙁
In any case, thanks for the request!
Definitely, souravjj4! Our plugin can convert your images to WebP, and you can even try it for free 🙂
Hi Markus,
The image itself is loading perfectly fine, as you can see here: https://i.imgur.com/sM2isLV.png
The problem you might have is that the LCP is not caused exclusively by the image. The LCP is also affected by how optimized your website is. For example, some scripts, if unoptimized, may block the browser main thread, which means that your image will load after these scripts finish their work. Or maybe your image is not preloaded. There’s a lot of ways to optimize your site.
I recommend you contact a performance specialist so they help you optimize your site 🙂
Cheers!
Hi thereelstars,
A few questions for you that’ll help us understand where exactly the issue is:
- Could you show us a screenshot of the error message?
- At what point does the error message appear?
- If you deactivate all plugins except “Resize Image After Upload”, does the same issue happen?
- Could you show us a list of all your installed plugins?
Thank you!
Thank you for your awesome review, @miguelrzdesign17!
We are happy that you are happy 🙂
