@sjakko — you misunderstand. W3TC had a bug that rendered our donation confirmation pages broken. W3TC fixed the issue. Caching can do a lot of things to plugins that depend on user sessions, and good caching plugins provide settings to overcome those issues — W3TC has such settings. We have hundreds of users using GiveWP and W3TC successfully.
So this isn’t an issue of precendence or either/or. They work just fine together. Thanks for your patience.
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Rollback - Rollback Plugins and Themes] Where is the old plugins folder? We don’t create an “old plugins” folder at all. WP Rollback simply rolls the plugin version back or forward to any version you want that’s supported on ww.wp.xz.cn. If there is no rollback button then the plugin most likely is not from ww.wp.xz.cn.
Hi @danichi
I’m Head of Support at GiveWP. Let me help clarify this for you.
When you go to connect to Stripe within out plugin, you’ll see this notice:
The free Stripe payment gateway includes an additional 2% fee for processing one-time donations. This fee is removed by activating the premium Stripe add-on and never applies to subscription donations made through the Recurring Donations add-on. Learn More >
See here:

That is a commission fee from us in addition to Stripe’s normal credit card processing fees. This additional fee only exists within our free Stripe integration. If you want to remove those fees, you can purchase the Stripe add-on individually or via any of our Pricing Plans.
You can also read our announcement of our Stripe free integration and the backstory on why we add those fees here:

Hi @@alexandergull — our mutual user is reaching out about this again. Can I help with any direction on how GiveWP works or anything like that to help move this issue further toward resolution?
My next guess then is an issue with your Stripe account. Is it an older account? Maybe your Stripe API version is outdated. Login to Stripe and check your API version on the DEVELOPERS menu.
Can you provide a link to your form so I can take a closer look?
Thanks for the info @thirstyjon — and glad to hear you’re a customer now as well.
If you’re loving GiveWP and having success with your online donations, we’d love a kind review from you here:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/give/reviews/HI Dan,
That’s an odd error, are you testing this locally or is this on a live site?
Either way, here’s the things I’d check:
1. Is your site forcing HTTPS everywhere? If not, here’s our guide on how to do that: https://givewp.com/documentation/resources/how-to-use-ssl-and-https-for-your-wordpress-website/
2. Do you have another plugin that also uses Stripe? It’s possible they are using an older version of the Stripe developer kit. If so, navigate to “Donations > Settings > Advanced > Stripe” and switch the setting that says “Stripe SDK Compatibility”. Then test again.
3. Have you disconencted Stripe and reconnected it?
4. Do you have security or caching plugins? Try clearing the cache and disabling both and testing again.
Let me know how that goes.
HI @sellernine — this doc explains how you need to setup your webhook:
https://givewp.com/documentation/core/payment-gateways/stripe-free/Do that and all is well. We have thousands of users who have this setup and working perfectly fine. It takes one minute, and it’s something Stripe requires.
Not really. The way I’d suggest doing that though is to just use a simple custom amount field, then write some Javascript that watches the amount field and shows their level dynamically based on what they input.
Best of luck!
HI @dig311dug — it sounds like you had some trouble with some issues. But I don’t see any support requests from you at all. Our Support team is highly technical and responsive.
Additionally, GiveWP free users don’t spend any money at all — I think you know that, but it’s important to acknowledge in light of your claim that users will spend a couple hundred every year. It’s not accurate that “when your license expires… the plugin fails”. All our add-ons are open source addons and fully functional whether the license is expired or not.
If you are having trouble at all, please reach out to our team, we can help you both resolve any technical issues, ensure you’re getting the best rate, help optimize your donation pages with Fee Recovery and more. We have 70,000+ active installs and thousands of customers for a reason, and I’d love you to be able to enjoy those reasons as well.
Hi there,
This sounds like a plugin conflict. I’d suggest doing some plugin troubleshooting with the Health Check plugin. We have a tutorial on that here:
https://givewp.com/documentation/resources/troubleshoot-wordpress-websites-health-check/If you find that GiveWP still has that behavior after all plugins are disabled and you’re on a default theme, let me know step by step how to replicate that problem. We don’t have other reports of that at all, and at a simple glance I’m not seeing it locally either.
Let me know what you find. Thanks!
Hi there,
Thanks for doing the additional testing and providing those details.
Here’s a couple additional things to look for:
1) Make sure your Give Form is actually Published. If it’s still in Draft mode then it can’t appear publicly while not logged in.
2) If you see the form with “All Fields” set but NOT when “Modal” is set, then most likely there’s some sort of conflict issue preventing the form from appearing in modal mode.If you can provide a URL of where we can see the problem live that would help us problem solve a lot more easily as well.
Thanks!
Hi Julie,
We still don’t offer that kind of system out of the box. Some users use our Form Field Manager addon and some custom javascript to achieve the same effect. Essentially, our repeater field in Form Field Manager can add the additional gifts you want to add to the donation form, then the custom JS just adds up the totals dynamically.
We do however have many more users who still prefer the Form Grid to display all the different campaigns on one page and encourage larger gifts per campaign than many smaller gifts over multiple campaigns. I know there are use-cases for just about everything, but just wanting to provide our insight and experience.
Thanks!
Thanks for your vote of confidence and recommendation. We appreciate it!
Regarding your feedback, we do try to ship translations whenever they are readily available. Our Recurring Donations add-on for example has several different languages available. But strings changes all the time so maintaining those translations is a challenge. If you have PO/MO files that are complete, we’d be more than happy to compensate you for those so others can benefit from your work.
Regarding the cart option, that is at this time not something we plan to create. Carts increase donation abandonment. I understand that there are use-cases for it, but currently it’s not a use-case that we think we can support with excellence without radically changing how our solutions works.
Thanks again, and we look forward to hearing about all your success with GiveWP and your online donations!
Just following up again here, because I’ve emailed directly, we’ve since seen support requests from you and responded to them, but we’re not hearing responses back at all. We’re committed to continuing to help you have success with online donations, but it’s easiest and most successful when that’s a two-way street. Thanks!
