Thanks for reaching out. I’m sorry for the trouble here.
Automatic updates shouldn’t happen unless enabled at Insights Β» Settings Β» Advanced. I tried to recreate the issue on a test site with the Automatic Updates setting is set to None. I was able to see the “There is a new version of Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights available” notification, instead of the older version of MonsterInsights automatically updating to the latest version.

Thanks for reaching out. I’m sorry for the trouble here.
I’m not totally familiar with the English WordPress Admin plugin, however, it looks like the issue may be coming from that plugin itself. It seems to have been officially closed since January 2022 https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/english-wp-admin/
We recommend using a more secure and up-to-date alternative to resolve the issue.

Typically the difference in numbers is due to a different tracking or counting mechanism, yes.

The recommendation to enable automatic updates is intentionally included to help our users keep MonsterInsights up-to-date and secure. We recognize it might not fit every situation, and apologize for any inconvenience it has caused. I’ve gone ahead and shared your feedback with the team, but currently, there are no plans to introduce a filter to disable the notice at this time.
