In reply to: Website down with “Fatal error”Hello Vegburgerhi,
Sorry for the problem with your website. Apparently, this issue was addressed in an earlier support post. They did the same thing (upgrade to 4.7) and had the same error. Please see this post for a resolution of the issue that may work for you.

In reply to: User Creation ErrorHello Joshuahobby,
Sorry for the problem with the users and the permissions issue. Are you using a plugin that can prohibit access to certain pages? I tried to re-create this issue by protecting the landing page that a user gets after logging in (a non-admin user). It does not give me the same error message. In fact, it does not do this in either a post or page. My subscriber user gets a message, “Oops! That page can’t be found”. I think that the problem is that the page that your user defaults to is not allowing access to anyone but an administrator level user. Make sure the permissions are provided for the first page that users sees when they login – whether it be a Post or a Static page. If you’re using a plugin for security, you need to make sure that the first page viewed when people login is providing sufficient access for your users.
I hope this helps! Let us know if you continue to have problems with the login. If you do, please provide us information about plugins you’re using and the exact steps we can take to duplicate the issue.

In reply to: Mass update headings in postsHello Immike30,
Sorry for the problem with your posts. There is a way you can do mass updates to your posts using a Database query. If you’re not familiar with updating through a MySQL client like phpMyAdmin, then definitely check out the plugin called Better Search and Replace. It allows for you to search for strings in particular tables and replace them. If you’re modifying your posts, then you would be modifying the wp_posts table. Your tables might vary based on the prefix you used in the database (default is “wp”). You would be searching for “<h1>” and the closing tag “</h1>” (without the quotes). Be careful though, if you remove them, from the posts table, you will basically be removing ALL of the H1 tags. Make sure that you make a BACKUP of your site database (and your site) before you make any changes.
I hope that helps!
Let us know if you’re able to make the corrections!

In reply to: Appearance ==> Customise ==> (hidden) outside of screen boundryHello Rosyoutlook,
Sorry to see if you’re having problems with the Customize sidebar not showing correctly. When I was looking at your site, you appear to be using WooCommerce. It’s possible that theme you’re using is affecting the fonts for the Customize sidebar. If you’re using a particular theme, try switching to one of their default ones to see if it corrects the issue. When I loaded WooCommerce and tried the default them, I could not duplicate the issue. Let us know if this helps!

In reply to: More Troubles With WebSiteHello Wb0rurark,
Sorry for the problem with subdomains not loading. Generally, when I think subdomain, I’m thinking of something like subdomain.maindomain.com, or maindomain.com/subdomain. In either case, if you have established a subdomain to be recognized on the internet, then it needs to have DNS entries AND it’s typically under a primary or main domain. We would need to see the domain names in order to determine if we can see the DNS entries on the internet (using tools like DIG). You should also consider the possibility that there is an error in the DNS. I work in a hosting service environment and it is not unheard of for specific domains to have DNS issues that require the DNS to be “re-pushed” to the internet. This would need to be corrected by the host.
I hope this helps to clarify the issue. Provide us a little information about your site and we can try to look at it here. Otherwise, please contact your host’s support team to look into the DNS issues.
Kindest regards,

In reply to: Problem with visiting or customizing my webpage (under construction)Hello Rokinrio,
Sorry for the problem with Windows notification popping up and not being able to login to you WordPress installation. The warning you getting is a Windows message. If you’re using Windows Internet Explorer you can try disabling active scripting to see if it will help get rid of that message:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
3. On the Security tab, click the Custom level button.
4. Scroll down until you see Scripting and Active scripting.
5. Click Disable, click OK, and then click OK again. If you have a backup (if you don’t, then next time you should), then try restoring it so that you can disable or remove your plugins one-by-one. Each time you disable a plugin, check your WordPress installation to make sure that it functions normally.
I hope that helps!

In reply to: Facebook wont show thumbnailon mobile appHi Stijn,
Thanks for letting everyone know about the solution you found. Just as an FYI, if anyone ever needs to RESET the image being scraped for the shared links from WordPress used in Facebook, you can use the Sharing debugger found here: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/.
This will clear out the old image and make sure that latest one is being used.

In reply to: Moving WordPressHello Jeroen,
A quick bit of caution. On some hosts, if your database is beyond 50 MB, then you will need to contact the host and ask for some help. They may have a limit as to the size of the database that can be done directly in the interface provided to you (very often in the cPanel phpMyadmin). The support people for your host can input the database for you very quickly if that is the case. Just upload the file to the location of your WordPress site and let them know.

In reply to: Problem for RSS feed among wordpress sites hosted on same serverHello Abigailm,
Sorry for the problems with RSS feeds not working. I highly recommend getting to the web server error logs (e.g. Apache error logs if you’re using an Apache server). If there is a problem on the web server side, then it should be getting logged in that location. At the very least, if there is a security module blocking access, it should be showing at that point. To me, that is what it sounds like. Something on your VPS is preventing the access when it worked before. I hope that helps to get you to a solution for your problem!

In reply to: Pictures in media liberty with å, æ and øHello Hannibalherman,
Sorry for the problem with the characters not showing with your pictures. In looking at your site, it’s possible that you need to change the character set of your database. If you’re using UTF8, it may need to change to something more appropriate for the language you’re displaying. Converting database sets is discussed in the WordPress Codex here.
I also found a recent support post that may be of some help: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/charset-changed/.
Hope that helps!

In reply to: Posting: Can’t post anymoreHello Michaux,
Sorry for the problem with the error when trying to post. I have been going through the WordPress Support forum looking for possible matches with the error message of your problem. I found two, but the first had to do with a backup plugin. This is the post: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/todays-update-generating-error/. The other issue generating the same message involved doing a search: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/wordpress-search-function-not-working/.
If neither of these issues match, then I recommend troubleshooting your plugins to see if you can isolate a plugin as the possible problem. Disable all of them first to see if the problem recurs. If it doesn’t, then one of your plugins is the source. Enable them one-by-one to find the culprit.
Hope that helps! Let us know if you still need help!

In reply to: Can’t access admin panelHello Snic560,
Sorry for the problem with the login to your WordPress site. If you can provide us a URL that you’re using we might be able to provide some answers for you. If you’re getting a 404, then URL used for installing is not pointing to your current hosting server or the files are simply not there. How did run the installation? If you used the installation based on the WordPress files, then you should have used the URL in order to complete the installation. Please double-check the steps you used in the installation of WP. If you copied the WordPress files into the folder for that URL, then you should be able to pull up the site, at the very least. With the domain name, we can at least check to make sure that it is valid and recognized on the internet.
Please check how your ran your installation and and provide us a little more information so that we can help troubleshoot the problem.

Arnel C.Hello KLT708,
Thanks for the questions about securing WordPress with SSL for free and also speading up your WP site.
First, I understand that you’re slow with English, but hopefully, the links and instructions I provide will not be hard to understand.
There are a few FREE SSL options available to you. You need to look closely at what they offer and if they will meet your security needs. Here are few of them:
Free SSL Certificates for Open Source Projects
Check each offer as there are limitations for FREE SSL.
If you have ever followed the WordPress Support forums, the subject of optimizing or speeding slow WordPress websites is probably one of the most commonly asked questions. As such, there is a common reply very often provided by our esteemed WordPress moderators. Here’s what I have copied (and use) from them:
